INTRODUCTION


The Department of Computer Engineering started in 1990 with the aim to provide a high quality, effective and efficient learning environment at all levels of higher education which is internationally competitive and professionally relevant.
The Department is running an eight semester B. Tech. program in Computer Engineering. The present intake is thirty.
The curriculum of first two semesters consists of basic and engineering science subjects. In the next two semesters the emphasis is based on core computer engineering subjects and in the last four semesters there is a flexibility to choose departmental as well as open electives. The students are also required to complete a couple of mini projects and one main project in due course which is essential for the award of degree.
The Department has started M. Tech.programme in Computer Sc. & Engg. (Software Engg) from the session 2003-2004.
The Department of Computer Engineering has a well qualified, dedicated and highly motivated staff. The teaching faculty comprises young and dynamic staff members who are highly proficient and competent.
The Department of Computer Engineering is a rapidly growing department and recently it saw augmentation of the infrastructure in terms of the building as well as equipment, Additional building space was created last year to house additional laboratories

The Department has the following well equipped laboratories:

  *          Computer Software Lab.

*         Computer Hardware Lab.

*         Advanced Computing Lab.

*         Computer Networking Lab.

*         Computer Graphics & Multimedia lab.

There are several state of the art equipment including nearly hundred computing systems. The Department boasts of a complete networking of the various facilities including laboratories, seminar library, office and staff rooms. It has adequate internet connectivity through dialup as well as from the University Computer Centre. The Departmental Library has an exclusive collection of books, jour nals and magazines covering the diverse areas of Computer Engineering. This is in addition to the Engineering College library which consists of books bank as well as reading room facilities.
The staff is actively involved in the research and development activities in the emerging areas of Computer Engineering. Currently research is being carried out in the areas of Networking, Parallel Computing, Web Searching, Operating System,Computer Graphics and Software Engineering.
